Recently in-depth studies on junggoje pansori have been conducted, and remarkable results have been accumulated. This paper aims to explore pansori in the Naepo region, the home to junggoje pansori, and to increase the horizon of understanding junggoje pansori. The results of the research are as follows: First, the Naepo region, which has contributed to the development of pansori, included ten villages?Dangjin, Myeoncheon, Seosan, Taean, Haemi, Gyeolseong, Deoksan, Hongju, Shinchang, and Yesan. This region formed its own culture circle, for it was blocked by Asan Bay, Cheonsu Bay, and the Geum River. But it also had cultural properties of Gyeonggi Province because it was near Hanyang and Gyeonggi Province. Junggoje pansori singers settled down there and developed their own art world, for there was a great deal of farm and sea produce. In addition, there were plenty of human resources such as music-related public servants of the Hongju Office and many poor musicians at hyang, so, and bugok. And five-day interval village markets in the region appearing in the late Joseon period also contributed to the development of pansori for they played a role as a performing stage. Second, pansori masters who were from Naepo region or performed there were summed up as follows, according to their performing village. Pansori masters from Hongseong or who performed there were Choe Seon-dal, known as father of pansori; Yu Gong-ryeol(dongpyeonje), who is the best student of Jeong Chun-pung; Gim Chang-ryong(junggoje), who performed at the Yonghori market place; and Han Seong- jun, who was the best drummer and dancer. Pansori masters from Seosan or who performed there were Bang Man-chun having a voice of grand volume; his grandson Bang Jin-gwan; Go Su-gwan famous for eight renowned singers in the former period; Shim family(Shim Jeong-sun, Shim Sang-geon, Shim Jae-deok, Shim Mae-hyang), who ruled their time with Gayageum Byeongchang and Sanjo; and Kim Bong-mun(dongpyeonje). Besides, Yun Yeong-seok from Myeoncheon was famous for tobyeolga, and Yeom Gye-dal from Deoksan was one of eight renowned singers in the former period.
