It is a question of how the Japanese national spirit is talked about and presented from the Meiji period to the present, and how the people consume and enjoy it. One of the main goals is to trace the genealogy that has been created in this ‘national spirit’, which is supposed to be the bond of the nation. Therefore, what is emphasized in this study is the 'sociality', not the 'spirituality' of Yamatotamashii or the Japanese spirit. In Japan, in the Meiji era, the modern Japanese state that demarcates borders to establish a sovereign state, and makes the people living within it to be imagined as a homogeneous Japanese, officially establishes Yamatotamashii as the cornerstone of national character. Along with that, the concepts of 'Heroic Spirit', 'Loyalty', and 'Nationality' appeared together, and it is defined as the so-called national spirit. Moreover, experiencing the war that began in 1931, Yamatotamashii is created as a national spirit while interlocking with totalitarianism. The person who embodied that spirit is reconstructed, and in the end, the tragic end of the commando team is met. And exhibitions and facilities were made to materialize this invisible spirit, and the ideology penetrates deeply into the general public as well. Finally, it substitutes for the conclusion by suggesting areas that need to be further studied for the completion of this topic.
