China's automobile industry has developed very rapidly after China's reform and opening-up policy. The automobile industry, which is China's core industry, has developed at a high growth rate in recent years, and its automobile production and export volume ranks high in the world. Of course, China's automobile industry has achieved remarkable results, but it still has many problems compared to advanced and mature countries such as the US, Japan, Germany, and Korea. Therefore, this study uses the diamond model of Porter to compare and analyze the international competitiveness of the automobile industry in China, the US, Japan, Germany, and Korea to learn the experiences of developing the automobile industry in advanced countries and to develop the automobile industry in China. In order to achieve this, we would like to suggest ways to improve the problems that exist in the Chinese automobile industry. To this end, the international competitiveness scores of the above five countries were calculated in terms of factor conditions, demand conditions, strategy, structure, and competition, related and supported industries, which are the four elements that constitute the diamond model, and the results were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, China had the highest international competitiveness in factor conditions. Since 2006, China's international competitiveness index for factor conditions has continuously risen, while other countries' competitiveness index has shown a relatively gradual decline. And in terms of demand conditions, it was found that China maintained the highest competitiveness with an absolute advantage among the five countries. In addition, it was analyzed that China has the highest competitiveness in related and supporting industries. On the other hand, in the international competitiveness of corporate strategy, structure and competition, Germany had an absolute advantage over the other four countries, and compared to the highest level of competitiveness, China's international competitiveness was the lowest.
