This study was conducted to investigate the social welfare implications and support measures by re-examining the role of the state and society, and identifying the problems and actual conditions of the victim support system, focusing on the life history research method of the victim of humidifier disinfectant. In-depth interview data analysis was conducted using Mandelbaum(1973)'s 'dimension', 'turning point', and 'adaptation'. Results of the analysis showed that the dimensions were 'growth period that was full of dreams and confidence', 'choice for me, humidifier disinfectant', 'health problems that even the doctors do not know the cause of', and 'a patient that no one believes'. The turning points were 'talent discovery and active challenge', 'horror of death after independent living', 'start to protect me, victim application,' and ‘governments and companies that don't admit’. The adaptation was derived as 'facing the reality rather than dreams', 'frustration of me being unable to do anything', 'collectively screaming and doing activities to relieve humidifier disinfectant damage'. Based on these results, we proposed a system to provide rapid and effective support to humidifier disinfectant victims from the government and society, the need for cooperation from various ministries for humidifier disinfectant victims distributed nationwide, and the need for health and welfare support system that provide social services and support for the recovery of humidifier disinfectant victims.
