Recently, augmented reality technology has been used to operate UAS(unmanned aircraft system). In UAS, augmented reality technologies are introduced in various ways, including flight information visualization, disaster management, space and geographic information, SLAM(simultaneous localization and mapping)-based navigation, augmented reality drone racing games, and augmented reality overlays. This paper classifies human factors among the causes of accidents that occur when operating an UAS, studies human factors related to augmented reality technology in advance, and presents additional human factor problems to be considered when operating an UAS. Human factor considerations presented in the paper include visual propblems (such as spatial closure, image data transfer delay, image distortion, object depth recognition difference, FOV(field of vision) difference, PD(pupillary distance) difference, visual clarity and sensitivity difference), multimode recognition problems, UAV(unmanned aerial vehicle) tracking problems, and user interface problems. The definition and analysis of human factor problems to be considered in this paper, correlation with accident cases, and problem-solving solutions are considered to be the cornerstone of solving human factor problems that may occur when operating an UAS with augmented reality technology. The long-term goal of an augmented reality-based UAS is to better perform flight operations by creating applications that can overcome human factors problems. As human factors related to augmented reality are newly highlighted, various policy reflections, regulations and guidelines should be revised, education and training should be reflected.
