Since space set-up is directly related to individual’s environment and consciousness, every writer demonstrates very different characteristics from one another. And, this phenomenon has gotten evident now a days after individual creative writing become mainstream following the advent of HongLouMeng. HongLouMeng and JingHuaYuan are often compared to each other and are the two most representative creative writing from Qing Dynasty. This study mainly examines through the signification and structure of the space and their relationship with writer’s consciousness by comparing the narrative space of the two works. HongLouMeng and JingHuaYuan both reflect the utopia of the writers. These two works deliver writers’ unique story through characters and also mirror fiction and fantasy of untouchable utopia. Comparing the space of the two works, one can find out that the two show very opposite direction as shown by the trace of main characters. Here, direction can be classified into introversion and extroversion. These two different direction are the reflection of writers’ consciousness and illustrate how they are closely related to writers’ own environment in setting the utopia. One shows gradual downscaling of the space toward internal direction, and the other shows the opposite. And, such development of the story significantly influences the spatial structure, writer’s consciousness and also the ending.
