Purpose: The purpose of this research is to analyze the effects of pylaers’positive emotional regulation and coaches’coaching strategies on the self-efficacy of elite middle and high school tennis players. Ultimately, the study seeks to determine which factor contributes more effectively to enhancing tennis players’ self efficacy.
Method: A total of 280 elite middle and high school tennis players (410 males and 140 females) registered with the Korean Tennis Association (KTA) were selected a sthe survey subjects. The study utilized measurement tools to assess positive emotional regulation, coaches’ coaching strategies, and self-efficacy. The questionnaires underwent reliability and validity tests, and the collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 Program. The analysis included frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, t-tests for difference testing, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis, with a significance level of p ≤ .05.
Results: The results of this research are as follows. 1) The correlations between positive emotional regulation, coaching strategy, and self-efficacy of tennis playersw ere generally moderate. 2) Among the subfactors of emotional regulation, only cognitive shift and behaivoral response had statistically significant effects on self-efficacy (p<.001). 3) The coaching strategy had a statistically significant effect on self-efficacy (p<.001). 4) The self-efficacy of the elite middle and high schoo tlennis players was more influenced by their own positive emotional regulation than by coaches’coaching strategies (p<.001).
Conclusion: While both players’ positive emotional regulation and coaches’ coaching strategies influence their self-efficacy, positive emotional regulation appears to be a more effective factor in enhancing selfefficacy than coaching strategy. Therefore, it is crucial for players to focus on improving their self-directed positive emotional regulation through various training and practice methods to enhance their performance and self-efficacy levels.
