The purpose of this study is to revisit the meaning of the democratic physical education class proposed by the author as an aspect of citizenship education through physical education several years ago. The function of schools is not limited to education. School includes not only education, but also various life worlds such as politics, economy, society, culture, academics, art, and sports. are in charge. On the other hand, citizenship constitutes a spectrum of human nature, and has differences from concepts that have been argued in the discourse on character education. One of the commonalities between character and citizenship is that it is humanity defined by necessity in the community, but the former is related to the formation of individual personality, and the latter emphasizes moral obligations in the political and social structure. On the other hand, one of the other aspects of citizenship is the right as a member of a community represented by citizenship, and among them, it is argued that a critical examination of the right to participate in students is needed. The start of citizenship education in physical education classes begins with democracy in the classroom, and it is necessary to understand that democracy in the classroom does not force specific civic qualities, but experiences democracy itself. Referring to the democratic lifestyle suggested by Apple & Beane (2015), the researcher suggested six specific action directions for democratic physical education classes.
