With the increased interest in environment, the importance of ‘sustainability’ and ‘zero-waste’ is highlighted in modern society. The concept of zero-waste as a measure for realizing the sustainability is emphasized in diverse design areas. Recently, various methods are sought for like planning designs not to generate waste even in the manufacturing process, or reproducing products by recycling or reusing waste in the stage of disuse. Thus, after cognizing the seriousness of the reality in which a massive amount of fabric waste would be thrown out in the manufacturing process of fashion products, this study paid attention to the concept and importance of zero-waste pursuing the sustainability. Also, most of the researches related to zero-waste design that makes it possible to realize the sustainability in the manufacturing process are diversely performed in the fashion design area while the researches on the zero-waste bag design for the minimization of fabric surplus generated in the manufacturing process are still inadequate. Thus, the objective of this study is to suggest the possibility to realize the bag design applying zero-waste. In the research methods, after establishing the concept of zero-waste, this study used the relevant preceding researches to analyze the zerowaste design method in the fashion manufacturing stage out of the measures for realizing the sustainable fashion design. Based on it, this study drew the ‘all use cutting’ method to use up all the fabric surplus generated in the manufacturing process. Also, through a case research on the pre-manufacturing stage, manufacturing stage, and disuse stage realizing the zero-waste design, this study cognized the necessity of bag design applying the zero-waste design method in the manufacturing process, and then produced the actual works by developing total four bag designs. Therefore, this study realized the bag design applying the zero-waste design method after paying attention to the zero-waste design as a sustainable practical value. In the future, there should be continuous researches and cases of diverse and creative bag designs applying zero-waste in the manufacturing stage.
