This paper examines the perspectives of Imperial Japan on the Sino-Japanese War and the Pacific War presented through educational, social, and cultural media. On the basis of this, I tried to analyze how the participation of the colonial Koreans in the imperial war was expressed. The textbook which is the educational medium, the newspaper magazine which is the social media and the video materials etc. were compared and analyzed. Through this study, it was found that the oppressive disciplinary power of the Japanese Empire through imperial hegemony produced a lot of propaganda materials in various media and encouraged colonial cooperation. During the Sino-Japanese War, the Empire of Japan gave Koreans the role of ‘Naeseon Ilche('Korea and Japan are One’) under the ‘The subjects of the Emperor’ system in order to facilitate colonial rule. In addition, they encouraged indirect cooperation by emphasizing their role in the rear, such as compel delivery, goods saving and encouragement to the imperial army. However, during the Pacific War, the Japanese Empire disguised its ambitions to invade the continent and promoted the deceptive justification of protecting world peace. In addition, colonial Koreans were forced to cooperate in the war under the frame of being ‘the Emperor’s subjects’, excluding political rights. It was confirmed that Joseon, which had been reduced to a province of Japan, had become a second-class citizen used to achieve the purposes of the Japanese Empire, rather than an independent partner country in the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. Materials from each media used in education, society, and culture played a role in increasing the effectiveness of propaganda materials. And it can be said that these materials were repeated in the daily lives of colonial Joseon people and strengthened their thinking, forming the discourse of ‘cooperation in the imperial war’ amidst totalitarianism.
