The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends in research on Korean culture education using topic modeling and keyword analysis and to suggest future research directions. To this end, it retrieved 601 academic journal articles published between 2001 and 2024 from the Korean Citation Index (KCI) using the keyword “Korean culture education.” It then analyzed the collected data using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling in a Python development environment. The results indicated a steady increase in Korean cultural education research over time. Among the research topics, “teaching methods in cultural education” accounted for the highest proportion of studies. Other active areas of research included “general cultural education” and “the development of educational materials and resources.” Furthermore, keyword analysis identified “learner,” “language,” “literature,” “class,” and “method” as major keywords, suggesting that many studies have focused on integrating teaching methods with cultural elements. LDA topic modeling revealed seven key topics, including “Culturally centered Korean-language education methods,” “Educational exploration of Korean-language and cultural expressions,” “Curriculum development through Korean history and literature,” and “Korean-language education and internationalization for foreign students.” These findings confirm the various perspectives that inform Korean cultural education research, with a particular emphasis on teaching methodologies, instructional strategies, educational material development, cultural element integration, and learner-centered education.
