I will introduce some methodologies of IWF (Institut of Scientific Film) in Germany. This institute, which was established 40 years ago, have speciality to make films for education and research. Based on IWF's methodology for visual material we can find some clues, how to preserve our traditional culture.
Navajo Project, which was accomplished by Sol Worth and John Adair, show how Navajo indigenous people perceive their own world. Worth and Adair gave cameras to the Navajo indians, and taught the techniques, how to cut the film. The films made by Navajo indians show, they saw their own world very differently, from what Worth and Adair had anticipated.
