The issue concerning the improvement of traffic intersection is one of the important objects of TSM (Transportation Systems Management). In the case of the improvement of intersection, it is required to enhance the level of quantities and qualities of vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow.
This paper intends to explore some requirements for that enhancement through a tentative plan of Yungdeongpo Rotary Intersection which has many problems in urban context, and to help establish the principles of improving intersection with thoughts induced from the results of the tentative plan.
The induced thoughts are as follows:
1) An intersection should be well - oriented to drive.
2) Pedestrian convenience and amenity should be considered as important as vehicle traffice.
3) It is desirable to receive the advantage of the signal control system which operates the vehicle platoons.
4) In improving the hardware of intersection, it is necessary to simulate the capability and limit of the software of that.
