The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship of models of spiritual education and leadership development. This work is an educational praxis between the spirituality and profession in educational ministry. In order to develop an understanding of educational models of spirituality, this paper attempts to deal with a dialogue among the biblical perspective of Abraham's spirituality, theological perspective of John Wesley, contemporary models of Henri Nouwen, and historical perspective of Urban Holmes' spiritual patterns. This approach is to exam models of spiritual education and develop an effort for educational leadership.
Spiritual education opens a new approach to solve the Christian life under the modern society. It is helpful to rediscover a personal inner life, communal and interpersonal life in the church and society. Especially, educational ministry has to develop models for communal and social spirituality in the Korean Christian life. This study is to provide the sharing-models of spirituality. Spiritual education focuses on personal and social transformation. A dialectic unification of understanding of spirituality and educational leadership leads to good models of spirituality. These efforts can be also linked with models of teaching-learning in spiritual education which require a gradual process of personal empowerment as well as social transformation.
