The aim of this paper is to study interaction phenomena and meaning of culture of traditional folksong in the boundary area of Youngnam and Honam province. The results are as follows;
1) In the a boundary area of these two province, folksong's interactions are four types. the first is gradual propagation, the second is rapid propagation, and the third is one side propagation, the last is both propagation.
2) Occurrence of these propagations are based on the necessity(function) of folksong, artistic value, and amity of sentiment and emotion. these are called a acceptance principles.
3) On the way of acceptance of other province's folksong, phenomena of variety and borrowing are occurred. And these phenomena bring a relations of supplement and confronting each other.
4) The change of folksong in the boundary area of two province is happened by The origins: the first origin are inner and out factors-expansion of function, people's moving, influence of the upper class art. the second is central and secondary change-factor of singing type and melody, change of words, the third are origin of a spelling mistake or recreation, the forth is the exchange or influence each other between peculiarity and universality.
5) On this paper, I researched the meaning of folksong by culture in these province's folksong. as a results, there are three categories. society of manhood as a central force, mountain and plain culture quality, the culture of buddhism and Confucianism, these are origin of distinction in two province's folksong.
