Generally speaking, since Europe and other areas didn’t have much contact between them, each of them has developed their own culture. Therefore, ‘contemporaneity’ and ‘non-contemporaneity’ coexist within these cultures. The intercultural research respects the individuality and the originality of the cultures and acknowledges the difference and the equal value of each culture.
The topic which deals with the unique problem of people suits the term ‘Stimme des Volkes(the sound of people)’, which is the sung by people through generations. The sound of people has been used as the self expressions. In other words, folksongs cover the natural life style of the people. They commonly deal with human life like destiny, freedom, love and death and are sung by all people universally. But this song differs from nation to nation because each nation leads different life style in different environment.
The intercultural research which consider the uniqueness of the people folksongs contrasts ‘similarity’ and ‘difference’ on the basis of one regular form. We recognize each individual culture and as a result, we have the possibility of intercultural communication among different peoples. After all, when we compare the difference between the two people’s folksongs in different cultures and analyze the expressed thoughts and the world of life in the folksongs, we can approach each culture and understand the two societies better. Furthermore, the purpose of this intercultural research is that ‘das Fremde(the strange)’ to us is added to ‘das Eigene(my own thing)’, which makes new changes and creates new meanings.
