〈Jeongseon's Arari〉 is an achievement of a long academic research which started at Jeongseon 23 years ago. This article aims to make a survey of the valuable book.
〈Jeongseon's Arari〉 shows the elaborate efforts to realize the actuality of the orally-handed-down literature in looking into Jeongseon's Arari and the systematic calssification in processing the acquired data. The book can be regarded as the first report that spent the most amount of time on the folklore of a region and suggested the most various and systematic data about it.
Jeongseon's Arari is composed of two-line texts which have wide and multi-layered meanings. A large amount of the related data can help to explaing the multi-layered meanings. The book also contains various data such as local singers, introduction of a MahEul, performance situations, special vocabulary, interview with local singers and etc.
In the book, 7,368 texts of Jeongseon's Arari are classified into some categories like Dohklip Song(Typical Song), Ddallim Song(Subordinate Song), Gharten Song(Similar Song), Chamgo Song(Referential Song). The categorized data will help to do an aethetic approach to Jeongseon's Arari's theme, feeling, transformed admissions, effects and the like.
