This thesis deals with the reality of initiating instruction and improving device of Jeong-seon Arari being based on the actual spot research.
Initiation of Jeong-seon Arari has two cases; before and after it was designated as a local cultural property of Gang-won-do. Before it was registered, learning and listening Arari was ordinary in any places of town. However, the initiation was passed to the skilled possessors after its register. At the beginning, the possessors taught the initiates personally, then at the end of 1994, they started to systemize the real instruction, and it created the Initiating Organization of Jeong-seon Arari.
Therefore, the organization is the main instruction one among all. It teaches the public in every Wednesday, and the young students who are in the elementary and middle school in the district. Besides, it offers not only the initiating instruction with a pool of Korean traditional music lecturers, but also presents many kinds of performances.
The Initiating Organization should try to accomplish the effective and consistent instruction. Although the instruction classes were organized with the skill levels, there is few well-organized program, and learners just sing Arari one by one. Especially, since the initiators who are the skill possessor, people who complete the course, or scholarship students of initiation- have different style of singing and teaching method, the beginners get easily confused. In order to solve this problem, the lecturers need to be trained to improve their abilities by studying about the rhythm of the Korean drum, Jang-goo, teaching method, and various subjects of Korean music, afterwards they should take part in teaching. Also there should be responsibility of each skill possessor toward the initiating system and genealogy of Jeong-seon Arari.
Moreover, it is essential to inform about Jeong-seon Arari to the young people, and support them who have potential ability to become a singer. The singers firstly need to learn the standard form and the rhythm of the song then, competently apply it to the various styles by transmitting, adapting, and creating Arari and the story like as the old songs which have various kinds depending on the different singers.
In case of the talented education in elementary and middle school, the experienced and high standard teachers should be placed in the schools, and be aware of the students as future initiators as well as successors by motivating them to be interested in Arari. Besides it should be discouraged to replace frequently the lecturers who have different style of singing and teaching method because the learners who are at the beginning level would be confused as they are unfamiliar with singing Arari yet.
The education of the pool of Korean traditional music lecturers in the Jeong-seon district had been operated mainly on Jeong-seon Arari like as the talented education of schools by 2004, but there is no school which initiates Jeong-seon Arari any more in 2007. It would be a good opportunity for the singers to teach Arari if they become school curriculum teachers such as math, Korean language, or society, etc.
The initiating organization of Jeong-seon Arari conducts various performances such as Jang-teo Arirang or the musicals, which demands the singers abilities and desperate efforts to sing Jeong-seon Arari skillfully. Also the host organization should select the successors with a radical standard not to cause any complaint, and also improve the system to make them hope to be selected and to hold the responsibilities for the initiation of Arari.
Typically, the Arari school and Jeong-seon Arirang school make efforts to notify and succeed Jeong-seon Arari to the public as private organizations. If Jeong-seon county supports these two, they will develop the initiating education and take important parts. If the formulas presented above organized well, the initiating of the Jeong-seon Arari will take the prosperous position and it will advance as sound of sounds, and sound among sounds.
