Hong Qi Sheng(1866?1928), a virtuous person in the history of Taiwan.
Hong Qi Sheng was good at the ancient Chinese literature. He had insisted on teaching and protecting Chinese culture after 1896A.D. that Taiwan had occupied by Japan. Hong Qi Sheng had written thirty?four pieces of rhyme?prose that had presented five special characters as follows：The rhyme?prose which expressed emotions had been influenced by Yu Hsin’s rhyme?prose about the spring and Hsieh Chuang’s rhyme?prose about the moon. These pieces had expressed excellent literary talent.
Hong Qi Sheng had expressed his elegant and graceful literary mind in the pieces of rhyme?prose which expressed his ambitions.
Hong Qi Sheng had written the rhyme?prose with couplets of identical number of characters neatly pairs off word for word with three characteristics as follows:(1)The themes were very creative. (2)The rhymes were very rigorous. (3)The structures were very perfect.
The rhyme?prose which were praised the natural scenery of Taiwan had been written by Hong Qi Sheng. These pieces included the emotion of the protection of native land, enjoying the scenery of Taiwan, praising the physical world of Taiwan, and the expression of the aspiration of Hong Qi Sheng. For example, “the ninety?nine peaks fu” had been used a series of metaphors that describing the peaks in Nan?t’ou county in Taiwan. All these metaphors were very spacious. We can not almost find the excellent rhyme?prose in the literature history of Chinese.
5. There were four groups of “one theme but many structures” in the pieces of Hong Qi Sheng. These pieces had been expressed new and various styles which were the special literary creation.
