The reason Seoul-gut has existed as yet is men and women have respected for each other. In circumstance that Shaman never will be a musician, and musician can’t be a shaman, the way of survival is mutual cooperation .
Although a male- dominated idea was spreaded, it was gut-society that woman was treated by their ability. And man took a regular role as a musician. In seoul-gut, every person was treated equally, they did the best that was in them. Musician could also be a faithful critic. Shaman couldn’t evaluate themselves because, they only took part in their guts. But musician had an ability to evaluate shamans through participating in other guts. After gut was over, therefore, musician could tell their feeling, in fact, they could point out shaman’s weak point.
It was natural that shaman asked musician rhythm or a question of gut.
If shaman might be a poor at song or zang-go , musician covered her with his music sound. We can find scenes like this now. While shaman were willing to send the musician away to another gut, and pay for it. In seoul gut, there were harmony and coexistence between Shaman and musician. However, there are only cooperation, not communication now.
It becomes more and more commercial they consider each other as a professional men and women, not harmony of them.
