The purpose of this study is to examine the achievement goal orientation in student's school learning and sport.
This study aims to provide data which would contribute to improving school achievement for the student as a function of their achievement goal orientation in student's schoolwork and sport. The subjects were 474 high school students (181 man, 293 woman).
They was selected by stratified cluster random sampling method among volunteers students. The survey instruments of this study were "goal orientation questionnaire" of sclool learning developed by Nicholls,(1989) and "Task and Ego orientation in sport questionnaire" made by Duda(1992).
The results of this study were as the follows :
First, Aligned with classrooom-based studies and the tenets of goal perspective theory(Nicholls, 1989), scores on the task orientation scale have related to more intrinsic and cooperative reasons for becoming involved in sport.
Seond, Scores on the ego orientation scale have related to more extrinsic motives for sport participation.
