This study is designed to present basic foundational materials necessary for the development of Korean social athletics as well as the development of sports centers in the capital city of Seoul in the 2001s. I have come up with the following conclusions on the basis of the following findings.
1. The subjects turned out to be little satisfied with the variety of the programs. They proved to be satisfied with the formation of the program time zone. Many a member thinks that there are no sufficient amount of family programs. And they think that the fees are very proper.
2. The members turned out to be satisfied with the expertise and abilities of their leaders, thinking their teaching methods quite systematic. The subjects respond that the leaders assume a sense of responsibility, thinking them to be men of sincerity. The leaders turned out to take an individual interest in participants in sports activities.
3. In respect to the question "Are modem facilities, equipment and various exercising tools equipped?" the majority of the subjects said, "Not bad" Some of them said that good attention should be paid to the hygiene maintenance of sports center facilities and their vicinity. The majority of the subjects said "Proper" with respect to room temperature and water temperature as well as interior illumination. Some turned out to form a strongly negative view of facilities or equipment necessary for a shower. And it is also true of such convenient and incidental facilities such as locker rooms and resting space, etc.
4. The subjects turned out to form a negative view of the athletic facilities as satisfied informal social gatherings or social roles. The subjects responded positively in regard to the provision of cultural events and educational places for local residents. But they fail to live up to the expectations of the citizens, which means that much more efforts should be made.
5. The respondents proved to take part in sports activities on their own volition or through the invitation or introduction of family members or friends. The majority of the members participating in the athletic programs of Soul YMCA said that they engage in sports with a view to promote their health and to remove their stress.
They also said that there is no major problem to their participation in sports activities. Some of them turned out to respond that lack of personal time or long distance is responsible for difficulties in taking part in sports.
The respondents said that shower facilities should first be improved, and that other incidental facilities such as resting rooms, parking lots, and hygiene facilities should follow suit, which means that the subjects prefer the improvement of well-fare facilities rather than sports-related facilities such as exercising equipment and illumination.
The subjects said that one of the most important qualifications of sports leaders is their 'teaching abilities and methods,' which is followed by sincerity and leaders' attitudes.
