The primary purpose of this paper is to establish of the hearer-honorific system on modern korean. There are the system of two methods in the hearer-honorific of modern korean nowadays. The one is a method of unitary system. The other is a method of a separate system. We can find out the vague classification on the final-endings as ‘-e’, ‘-ji’, ‘-eyo’, ‘-jiyo’ in unitary system. And we find out the vague split of formal style and unformal style in separate system.
We did make an attempt to establish the hearer-honorific system that have not many weak point in the existing system. The final endings ‘-e’, ‘-ji’, ‘-eyo’, ‘-jiyo’ carry out the function of two level in hearer-honorific system of modern korean. Therefore we can dispose these final-endings respectively on the two level of the hearer-honorific system. This is the same method that had been disposed the final-ending forms in existing sentence final mood system. The hearer-honorific system that we had organized is a unitary system with the confrontation of [+honorific] level and [o honorific] level. The [+honorific] level is divided as three level. There are several good points in this system on hearer-honorific system. The first good point of this system is to make more resonable explanation on hearer-honorific system of modern korean. The second good point of this system is to subjugate the superior limits in the existing theory on the hearer-honorific system of modern korean.
