There is a Seongji(Holy Land), Jukmakdong in byeonsan, Buan in Korea and there is one, Botarakgasan in Jusanggundo(Jusan Islands), Jeolkangseong in China. The remains of religious service for Sea-God from Baekjae has been found in Jukmakdong and there were pieces of celadon porcelain of Yukjosidae(the Area of Six Countries in China) among them. The pieces of celadon porcelain show that there were trades and cultural exchange between Baekjae and Namjo, China. Baekja accepted the culture of Namjo when they settled in gongju, the second capital city, and moved to Buyeo, the third capital city.
The cultural exchange was possible through the sea route of Sadan(斜斷航路) between byeonsan and Bota island of Jusanggundo(Jusan Islands). The sea route appears in a diplomatic representative, Seo Gung’s journal, Corea Dokyeong(宣和奉使高麗圖經) The monk, Bal Jeong who transmitted the Faith of Gwanum through the sea route was a monk of Baekjae. He travelled and searched for Buddhism for 30 years in China, came back to Baekjae through the sea route and spreaded the Faith of Gwanum. It was prevalent praying for safety since many merchants traded through the route during the Baekjae, the United Shilla and Corea and naturally the Faith of Gwanum in Bota island was transmitted to Byeonsan since byeonsan was the place which a ship could come directed from Botarakgasan through Heuksando.
The common features of the Faith of Gwanum between Botarakgasan and Byeonsan were the topography of the holy land of Gwanum, the picture of the Bodhisttva, Gwanum, in white and the Unghwasin of the Bodhisttva, Gwanum. The topography of the holy land of Gwanum was protruded coastal land and a sea cave on the rock. They considered that the Bodhisttva, Gwanum lived in the cave. The picture of the Bodhisttva, Gwanum, in white was the picture of the Suwall Bodhisttva, Gwanum of Corea. The picture of the Bodhisttva, Gwanum, in white which was on the wall of Daeungbojeon in Botasan was copied on the walls of Seounsa and Naesosa in Byeonsan. The Bodhisttva, Gwanum in Botado, Jusanggundo(Jusan Islands) has an appearance of an old lady and the Sea-God in Byeonsan is an old lady too named Gaeyanghwalmi. Beyonsan is a center of the Faith of Gwanum in the South-West coast, Korea like Botarakgasan in Gangnam. It is considered that the topography, a place to pray for Gwanum, and the holy land of Gwanum in Botarakgasan were revived in Byeonsan.
