Ⅰ. Introduction
Dir, Janng, Gilsu is distinguished Korean director in 1980's. This means that directors of the generation before and after 1950' s come in Korean film's world. And also his ages is a time which the meets American culture especially G.I culture, so his thought and the view of value is confused by conflict between western and traditional culture.
By this reason dir, jang pursued his identity throgh making his film.
Ⅱ.
Dir, jang was born in 1955. During his childhood, he lived around American military zone. So his first film, 〈Bameu Yeolgi Sogeuro 밤의 열기 속으로(1985)〉 shows the life story about peoples who lives in American millitary zone. After this film he consistantly makes a same theme to tell on the negative point of American culture. His filmograph from 1985 to 1998 is (Bameu Yeolgi Sogeuro 밤의 열기 속으로(1985)〉, 〈America America 아메리카〉, 〈Churaghaneun Geoseun Nalgaega Itta 추락는 것은 날개가 있다(1989년)), 〈Silver Horse Don't Come 은마는 오지 않는다〉. 〈Retaeeu's Aring 수잔 부링크의 아리랑(1991)〉, 〈Wester Avenue 웨스턴 애비뉴(1993)〉. 〈Naneun Somanghanda Naege Geumjidoingeoseul 나는 소망한다 내게 금지된 것을(1994년)〉, 〈Father 아버지(1997년)〉. 〈Utopia 실낙원(1998)〉.
Ⅲ. Conclusion
Dir. Jan has kept his faith in making his film which shows the conflict between rican Culture and Korean traditional culture.
So we can find a possibility to create the identity of Korean film through dir, Jan' works.
