The purpose of this study is to investigate relationship between office worker' participation in sports activity on their organizational commitment. Firstly, the different of office worker' participation existence and nonexistence in sports activity on their organizational commitment. Secondly, the influence of office worker' participation degree on their organizational commitment.
The population for this study was participants in office located in Seoul. The final 376 responses (participation 194, non-participation 182), collected by cluster random selecting method, were used in the data analysis procedure.
The participation existence and nonexistence is participation and nom-patticipation. The degree of participation in sport activities was measured by the period, frequence, and intensity of participation. The items for measuring organizational commitment were largely based on You(2002)s study, and To analyze the final data (376), the reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, analysis of covariance, and multiple regression analysis were used.
From the analyses of the data, the study reached the following conclusions:
1) There were statistically significant differences on both sum of organizational commitment and sub-factors, according to participation existence and nonexistence in sports activities. That is, the participants in sports activities were higher in the organizational commitment than non-participants.
2) The degree of participation in sports activities partially influenced the level of organizational commitment. The results represented that the period of participation and term positively influenced both sum of organizational commitment and sub-factors). While, there were no significant relationships between the intensity of participation and organizational commitment.
