As new educational environment is formed along with the development of the postmodern era, there is a move to reexamine the existing education system's structural formalization and standardization. In Korea's educational circles, there is a surging interest in previously dismissed aspects of education such as personality, aesthetics, emotions, and practical skills. As cutting-edge information technology develops at a fast rate turning the world into a knowledge-based society, there is also a great change in the field of education. Among the recent attempts in the field are cyber education, alternative education and life-long education. Thanks to the development of information technology (IT), new ways of learning are being developed for the Ubuquitous age. Individuals can freely log on to the internet for learning where education may progress without the limitation of space and time. Through two-way communication methods in education, the formerly standard rote teaching method is experiencing change, and an educational space is being provided so the students themselves may take the initiatives to learn.
The issue of theological education is the same today as it had always been. The foremost goal of theological education is in raising up people (fostering ministers). The core meat of the theological content is fresh realization of the Word of God through scripture.
But the method of theological education should change in correspondence to the 21st century context. Today's theological education is stifled under too much specialization, splintered and scattered allover the place. It is time for different theological spheres to connect and synthesize.
