The key to critical recognition about the private land theory in the debates around the land ownership theory at present depends on the aspect of the spread of notions of private land and the inaccurate understanding of dual reality of 'private land' included in system of national land distribution. The significance Baek Nam-Wun's land ownership theory has is that it reconsidered the conceptual limit of 'ownership' confined to private land theory, and suggested the possibility of class ownership gwajeon(Rank Land) of jeonsigwa had.
Baek Nam-Wun explained the former as state ownership theory and tax=rent theory, which included the merit of trying to investigate the characteristic of premodern asiatic feudal state and the significance of pointing out the limit of private land ownership. In terms of the latter, he pointed out that in relation to gwajeon of jeonsigwa the class ownership was established among the persons given gwaieon and hence concreted the ownership meaning of private land.
The characteristic of asiatic feudal state included in his theory of state ownership of land is considered as a logic of enabling the succession in the future to land ownership theory, in that his suggestion was a original critical mind against the theory of private land. His logic is said to have enough meaning for succession in that it is not a recurrence to the theory of state ownership of land and the duality of ownership included within national system of allocation of land can need to be discussed again. The core of the problem can be also said to reinterpret the meaning of ownership for private land and to understand nature of premodern state.
