This study is to explore in what metaphoric system the materialization aspect shown in Park Mok-wol's late period poetry 『Dead Leaves of Gyeongsang Province』 generates poetic meanings and tension by employing Hrushovski's theory of frame of reference, and to focus on the poet's conceptual expansion and aesthetic renewal unveiled in this process. The Chapter 2 discusses the poet's description of a human being as a physical thing deprived of personal qualities or individuality in this poetry. This aspect is materialized in his representing a human being as a frail and transient entity by nature as well as its ephemeral existence on earth. The Chapter 3 illustrates the objectification aspect of time revealed in his poetry in which the time of the mortals is portrayed of an extinctive nature. The time's susceptibility to death is emphasized in its conditions of 'Dismantlement' and 'Collapse' in this poetry. All in all, Park Mok-wol's 『Dead Leaves of Gyeongsang Province』 visualizes the transient existence of human beings and its limited time based on the concept of dissolution through the materialization aspect of human as well as the objectification aspect of time, which demonstrates metaphor serves as an essential aesthetic principle creating poetic meanings and tension in his poems.
