Service quality has been one of the important concerns of the reform efforts in all socio-economic sectors. In education also, the need of the instrument to measure the educational service quality is greater than ever. It is much needed to be competitive enough to play its roles.
The primary purpose of this study was to develop and verify the scale to measure the educational service quality in international trade major. For it, the educational service quality theories were reviewed and measurement criteria and variables of the educational service quality were analyzed. On the basis of the results of the above theoretical reviews, the measurement model composed of 3 determinant variables was fixed. After that, to verify the model, the scale to measure the educational service quality was developed and 348 students in six universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do were selected to answer the questionnaires for the purpose of ensuring the validity and reliability of the scale.
In conclusion, the educational service quality was composed of 3 sectors named as outcome quality sector, interaction quality sector and physical quality sector and totally 8 factors. The students in the higher service quality group recognized 'facility quality' as the most important factor, while those in comparatively lower service quality group did 'sympathy' as the least important factor. As one of the efforts to improve foreign trade education, each university should have its own service quality appraisal system, and this scale will be able to assist it to become more competitive. For explaining educational service quality and predicting the results of foreign trade education better, it needs the following study to relate those variables identified in this study with the factors of educational service quality.
