This Study is to compare and to analyze the change of experiences on drug abuse in juvenile delinquents between 1990 and 2003 in Korea. For this purpose, the researcher selected the two sets of survey data from juvenile training school students, and reviewed and compared them.
Drug abuser rates in juvenile delinquents generally decreased in 2003 compared with in 1990 in most kinds of drugs. Especially abuser rates of the hard drugs such as marihuana, Methamphetamine, heroin, etc. remarkably decreased. Juvenile drug abusers recently experience more difficulties in buying drugs than in 1990. This phenomenon in buying drugs is due to the regulation policy of selling drugs, and partly explains the decrease of drug abuser rates in juveniles delinquents. These findings imply in some degree success in control policy of illicit drugs abuse.
