Kuroita is a person who established studies of ancient manuscripts of modern Japan. He developed studies of old manuscripts (古文書學) through his thorough analysis of old documents, and devoted his lifetime to the editing of “ancient manuscripts of Great Japan (大日本古文書)” and “an outline of national history (國史大系).”
His studying in advanced European countries has made him to pay attention to exhibition of historical materials in the modern museum and research of historical sites. All these experiences were connected to the editing of history of Joseon (朝鮮史) and investigating ancient historical sites in colonial Joseon.
As a result, his general experiences are still effectual nowadays not only editing historical materials of Korea and Japan, but establishing of modern museums, digging up historical sites, maintaining of the Cultural Properties Protection Law, and so on.
However, we need to be more cautious that these works of Kuroita are based on Japancentrism (日本中心主義).
We should notice that his establishment of studies of ancient manuscripts and spread of his experience in colonial Joseon had selected and rearranged fundamental historical documents in studying history of Joseon.
Selecting and rearranging historical materials could restrict the research of history of Joseon from its root. It means that Kuroita"s works were related to the governing of colonial Joseon (植民地朝鮮).
