The purpose of this study was to find out problems of physical education for the handicapped in Korea. For the purpose of this study, the questionnaries were given to 255 teachers and 445 handicapped students from 60 secondary schools in Kyung Ki Do and Seoul City of Korea, and there were carefully surveyed. The results were as follows ; 1. Most of teachers and students feel that they need of special physical education. But the teachers did not a desirable quality of teaching methods. 2. The teachers had the lack of understanding of the knowledge about adapted physical education program. Also, over the 50 percents of teachers did not give a opportunity to perform physical education activities to handicapped students during the regular physical education class. The problem caused handicapped student to keep lower level of motor abilities. A good teacher of adapted physical education had great enthusiasm for teaching physical education for the handicapped, regardless of their capabilities in the performance of physical skills, most of handicapped students were influenced by a good teachers. 3. A lack of adapted physical education facilities and equipments showed in the community society like as near the town and area of apartments. The administrators of government should make every effort to provide adequate facilities and equipments for physical exercise for the handicapped persons to improve their conditions. Also, the schools did not have facilities as well as community society. Both of teachers and students showed a negative reaction about facilities and equipments for their condition with disability. 4. When students were withdraw from physical education activities, they said that they were unhappy. The handicapped students hoped to participate physical education activities which were modified and well organized for them. 5. This study showed that the schools were lack of a qualified teachers. It caused this problem faced to adapted physical education have contributed to keep undeveloped situation in school and society. The educators showed have professional education to teach the handicapped students with several difficulty in mental physical conditions.
