The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of alcohol ingestion on aerobic capacity of female college students through the process of analyzing and comparing changes of maximum oxygen uptake(VO₂max), blood lactate concentration(HLa) and work time during the progressive exercise tests in two different setting: one was held before alcohol intake. and the other one was held after alcohol intake. Ten female students, who were majoring in physical education at D. Women`s University, were selected for the progressive exercise test that was based on KSSI(Korea Sport Science Institute) protocol. Data was gathered from their normal stage, and after each of them consumed her normal quantity of alcohol. The collected data from the respiratory gas and the blood lactate concentration-test was applied to the dependent t-test. A significant level of 05 was set to be the rejection of the null hypothesis. This experiment obtained following results: 1. There was significant difference in decrease of VO₂max & VO₂mex/kg between pre and post alcohol ingestion. 2. There was no significant difference in work time to exhaustion between pre and post alcohol ingestion. 3. There was no significant difference in HLa between pre and post alcohol ingestion. Even though the alcohol ingestion didn`t have any significant impact on neither treadmill running time to exhaustion nor blood lacate concentration, the maximum aerobic power(VO₂max) was significantly decresed. Therefore, alcohol ingestion have negative effect on aerobic capacity of female college students.
