This paper attempts to analyze the symmetrical structure in Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights. Wuthering Heights is quite different from other Victorian novels in its technique and content: that is to say, the novel shows the frame of realism represented by two narrators, Lockwood and Nelly Dean and the motif of romance containing Gothic or supernatural elements. The novel is artistically designed as a symmetrical structure of two places and families by Emily’s cosmic view: Wuthering Heights of Earnshow and Thrushcross Grange of Linton symbolized as storm and calm respectively. The symmetric traits of the two are revealed through the interplay of the characters including their marriages etc. in the novel. Two families, first are disrupted by the intervention of an outsider, Heathcliff, but after all they come to recover the cosmic of the order and harmony through the conflicts of love, hatred, and revenge caused by the characters of two families.
