The purpose of this study was performed to assessment of the pattern of fat distribution in abdominal area with aging and overweight and estimation of intra-abdominal and subcutaneous abdominal fat from simple anthropometric measurements in adult men. In this study anthropometric measurement were taken from 120 adult men presenting for routine computed tomography(CT). Areas of abdominal fat were calculated from CT scan made at the level of the L4 vertebra. The result follows as : First, Skinfold-thickness and circumference from the limb decrease but Abdominal circumference and skinfold-thickness increase with age. First, WHR and WTR, as indices of fat distribution and abdominal circumference increased with aging. Second, Subcutaneous abdominal fat by Skinfold-thickness had not relatively changed with age group. Third, Total fat area, subcutaneous fat area and visceral fat area increased with aging, especially visceral fat area increased However subcutaneous fat area decreased slightly with aging at the level of the L4 vertebra using CT scan. Fourth, The correlation coefficient between Visceral fat area and WHR showed very high and Abdominal circumference and WTR were closely correlated with visceral fat areas. Fifth, The adult men estimated equation developed by using simple anthropometric flowed as: As intra-abdominal fat area by CT sacn was set up as a dependent veariable, the equation showed : Area of Visceral fat(㎠)=-343.878 + [Cabdominal*7.669] + [SFmidaxailly*-4.108] + [SFchest*2.084] + [wtht*-471.175]
