This study aims at presenting intensity of proper exercise and at helping effective lumbar stabilization exercise program to the patients of the low back pain by analysing comparatively the effect having on the muscular strength, low back pain, limitation of daily life, cross sectional areas of multifidus in lumbar region, when carrying out each exercise, dividing into 17 spinal stabilization exercise group(SSEG) and 16 general spinal strengthening exercise group(GSSEG) depending on its exercise method. For 33 patients diagnosed with LBP, each exercise was conducted for 10 weeks. Pain and disability were measured before and after exercise using the Visual analogue scale(VAS) and the Oswestry disability index(ODI). Paraspinal muscular strength in four directions was evaluated with CENTAUR. Cross section area(CSA) of both the left and right multifidus at the upper endplate of L4 were measured before and after exercise using computed tomography(CT). Results of the study are as follows; 1) As a result of having conducted each exercise by its exercise method for 10weeks, it has shown that in both groups muscular strength by the each spinal exercise has been remarkably increased in every angles(p<0.05). In comparing average values of muscular strength of the lumbar exercise between 2 groups, it has shown that SSEG has increased in its average muscular strength of lumbar stabilization than that of GSSEG in all angles, however, there was no remarkable difference(p>0.05). 2) As a result of having each spinal exercise method for 10 weeks, it has shown that pain, limitation of daily life were remarkably decreased in both groups(p<0.05). In comparing average values of VAS, ODI between 2 groups, it has shown that SSEG has decreased larger than GSSEG, there was remarkable difference(p>0.05). 3) As a result of having each spinal exercise method for 10 weeks, it has shown that CSA of both side multifidus was remarkably increased in both groups(p<0.05). In comparing average values of CSA of lumbar deep muscles between 2 groups, it has shown that SSEG has increased larger, there was remarkable difference(p>0.05).
