The purpose of current study is to identify acculturation type of Korean CCKs residing in Asia and factors influencing on their acculturation type by investigating 228 middle and high school students residing in Asian countries such as China, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and the Philippines. The cluster analysis revealed that the acculturation type of Korean CCKs in Asia was categorized as four groups: separation-marginalization type, separation dominant type, integration-assimilation type, and marginalization-assimilation type. Multinominal logistic analysis showed that gender, fluency in language, peer support and family support were significant factors influencing on the acculturation type. The difference of acculturation stress in terms of acculturation type is also identified. Those who belong to the separation-marginalization type and the marginalization-assimilation type were found as experiencing higher acculturation stress than those who belong to the integration-assimilation type and the separation dominant type. Implications for effective counseling and educational interventions were discussed based on the results and recommendations for future studies were suggested.
