Classification of Latent Classes by the Acculturation Type ofMarriage Immigrant Women: Exploring Influence Factorsand Differences in Children’s Bicultural AcceptanceSookyoung Lee Abstract: The purpose of this study is to identify the various types of acculturation of marriage migrant women for healthy cultural adaptation, at a time of changing into a setting period of multicultural society, and to examine factors affecting types of acculturation and the differences in their children’s bicultural acceptance attitude according to the acculturation types of marriage immigrant women. For this research purpose, latent classes analysis, multinomial logistic regression analysis, and variable difference analysis were used for 1,051 immigrant women from the 9th data of the first panel of multicultural youth. As a result of the study, four types of acculturation were identified: acculturative confusion, integration-assimilation dominant type, separation dominant type, integration-separation dominant type. As factors affecting the latent classes, the country of origin, self-esteem, people with whom they hang out, and the language they usually use were affected. According to the latent classes of acculturation of married immigrant women, there was a difference in the children’s bicultural acceptance attitude. This study bears significance as it investigated the various types of acculturation of marriage immigrant women and found that the types of acculturation had an effect on their children’s bicultural acceptance attitude.
