The purpose of this study is to introduce Robert C. Neville`s revised theory of creation ex nihilo as an alternative to Whitehead`s notion of creativity and God. Robert C. Neville, as one of the most persistent critics of Whiteheadian process philosophy and theology, insists that Whitehead`s non-identification of creativity with God is a serious mistake. The essence of Neville`s criticism is that while Whitehead`s cosmology is highly suggestive for the reconstruction of modern philosophy, Whiteheadian metaphysics is not an adequate tool for the task of sustaining the cosmology developed from Whitehead`s initial premises. Neville`s theory of creation ex nihilo is an alternative to Whiteheadian creativity and God. It is an attempt to support Neville`s own version of cosmology, ontology, metaphysics, axiology, social ethics, and most recently natural theology. Neville presents his revised theory of creation ex nihilo, a holistic and dialectically adequate theory of creation as the most coherent explanation of divine agency. This study is arranged into five sections. Following the introduction, the second section discusses Neville`s works. The third explains Neville`s theory of creation ex nihilo, ontological and cosmological analysis of determinatedness, logos theory, and notion of covenant. The fourth deals with Neville`s critique of Whiteheadian process philosophy and theology. The fifth is the conclusion. There are two major contributions of this study. First, it can promote a fruitful dialogue between traditional theists and process theologians on the theory of creation in Korea. Second, Neville`s hermeneutical methodology that builds his theology upon creative authentic metaphysics embodied in philosophy can contribute a new insight for Korean theology to reconstruct Korean philosophical theology of creation.
