The expansion of social service brought attention to social service workers since their well-being directly affects the quality of the services they provide to the clients. The level of job stress, one of many difficulties faced by social service workers is extremely high compared to other workers in similar settings. The purpose of this study is to seek a way to improve social service workers" working conditions and employee benefits by examining factors affecting the workers" job stress.
To accomplish this objective, the authors conducted structured survey to social service workers in a midium-sized city in Chungnam province. The result shows that the workers" job stress decreased when they could use their holidays as they wish and when there were more daily-life supporting benefits(work-family balancing benefits).
Based on the results of the study, the authors have made several recommendations to deal with workers" job stress and to improve the employee benefits for them.
