Despite the social interest in temporary workers, the actual situation of temporary medical social workers has not been properly discussed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of medical social worker"s employment status on depression mediated by job stress. Based on the results of the analysis, we propose a plan for strengthening the job security of medical social workers and reducing job stress. The analysis used data from 169 medical social workers in hospitals. The parallel multiple mediator analysis was used with the macro process 2.16.1 for SPSS. The results of this study show that employment status does not directly affect depression. However, the specific indirect effect of job instability, one of job stress subsets, was significant in the effect path of employment status on depression through job stress. In other words, temporary workers have higher stress on job instability than regular workers, and employment status has a negative effect on depression due to job instability. Based on the results of this study, we propose a systematic improvement plan for improving the employment status of medical social workers and reducing job stress.
