The aim of this study was to provide information for systematic operation of evaluate the appropriacy of current clinical practice education for dental hygiene students by investigating senior dental hygiene students’ satisfaction with the environment, instruction, contents and evaluation of current clinical practice education. The results revealed that the areas of clinical practice that the students were the most dissatisfied with were "evaluation" and "environment" as the satisfaction score of each area were 16.42 and 18.23 points, respectively. Furthermore, students answered that an assessor, evaluation criteria and system of clinical practice program were discontented. they were ‘dissatisfied’ with how their learning outcomes of clinical practice programs were evaluated. This indicated that clinical practice evaluation is the major contributor of students’ dissatisfaction. Constructing effective communication systems between dental hygiene faculties and clinical practice institutes is urgently needed in order to clearly grasp the environmental conditions of various field practice settings by collecting students’ opinions and to set functional systems for clinical practice education. Moreover, the individuals in charge of managing the clinical practice programs shall set standardized filed practice contents and provide outlines of course contents and evaluation criteria so each student can follow such practice courses with a better understanding of the whole clinical practice experience.
