The purpose of this study was to find out the university students’ housing value orientation and preferences about ‘urban-life housing’. The data for the analysis was collected through questionnaire survey method from November 13 to 15, 2011. The sample consisted of 100 respondents who were university students living in Seodaemun-gu and Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul. The results were as follows : 1) Respondents set a high value on inner-functionality and traffic-convenience out of housing value orientation factors. There were meaningful distinctions according to age, growth area, parents’ income and property of respondents. 2) Respondents had high intention of moving into ‘urban-life housing’ compared with low awareness about that. Respondents set a high value on location and economic-functionality out of urban-life housing preference factors. There were meaningful distinctions according to sex and age of respondents.
In conclusion, the demand for ‘urban-life housing’ among university students might be increased if the marketing for urban-life housing to university students is conducted. The ‘urban-life housing’ for university students should have fine heating, cooling and plumbing system and should be supplied on the sites where have comfortable transportation system at the right price and cost of maintenance.
