The outcomes of this study can be summarized as follows based on the analysis of the current status of the economic activities of the entire population and the population of challenged people.
It appears that the negative influence of the disability on finding a job is decreasing. Still, however, the polarization where the ratio of challenged people is too low or too high in particular industries, job categories, and status of workers compared with the entire labor market remains regardless of the increasing number of disability employment. Workers in higher age groups in the entire population have more chances to find jobs as ʻmanager or expertʼ while challenged workers will likely find jobs as simple laborers. Although the ratio of challenged people hired as ʻregular employeesʼ is increasing, it is still more likely that they will find jobs as ʻdayworker.ʼ Another problem is that the employment conditions have not improved greatly; for example, the wage of challenged workers has not improved from the usual level, 72% of the average wage of the entire waged workers. The difference can be more severe depending on the characteristics of the challenged people. Particularly, the situation of female challenged workers appeared to be quite serious in the labor market. The employment rate of female challenged workers is dropping while their unemployment rate is soaring. Considering the age, it is more likely that the ratio of women in the non-economically active population would increase.
