The following study is focused on the ways in which South Korean and Chinese languages and literature forms of education include works of foreign literature in the context of universal values of mankind. The study compares both the ways in which South Korea and China use works of foreign literature, and "how" they are used, despite the difference in development under capitalism and socialism respectively. The exact purpose of this study is to compare education in foreign literature between the two countries and draw positive implications. First, after comparing which pieces of foreign literature have been included in each curriculum, pieces which are included in both curricula will be identified, and compared in terms of the reason of inclusion, educational goals and contents. Through this it was noteworthy to discover the differences between reasons for subject matter selection as well as the perception towards translated foreign pieces. Further study related to foreign literature education of the two countries will be an asset in the advancement of language/literature education in an ever-changing global environment.
