In this paper, the economical effect of the german Unification on the labor market in the former Fast-Germany was investigated. Two abnormal observations make this investigation economically interesting. Firstly, east-german employees have lost about 1.3 million jobs despite of relative high economic growth and increasing productivity of this region during the past seven years. Secondly, number of the wage and salary earners has been declining, which should lead to increase of registered unemployed and hidden manpower reserves. But in the reality, the number of hidden manpower reserves have been reduced so strongly, that the potential of the economically active population has been declining in the same time. In view of these statistical facts, the correlation between wage level, labor productivities, employment and economic growth was theoretically investigated. Doing this, aspects of demand of goods, profitability and cost-minimizing factor combination were took into account particularly. Results of these investigation are the followings: Firstly, the main reason of the high unemployment despite of the economic growth 1.7% and 9.6% in the past seven years ist that employers made rationalization investment instead of expansion investment because of the high wage level, which was created by highwage-hightech-argument, purchasing power argument and argument for the prevention of mass migration of east-german population to the west-germany. Secondly, the low profit marge in relation to the turnover from -11.4% to -1.0% couldn`t attract the new investments. Lastly, the majority of the middle and large size firms with annual turnover more than 10 million DM couldn`t improve their profitability, so that the expected employment effect by these firms was lacked.
