Report Errors

Since the end of 1990s, happiness has received strong attention in our daily life. For the first time, Lee Myung-bak government expressed policy interests in it. And it became the overall policy issue for Park Geun-hye government. Given this background, this study discusses the publicity of happiness as a public policy goal. From the perspective of Hannah Arendt’s political philosophy, this paper analyzes the political issues, which have been raised as to the right to pursue happiness written in the Declaration of Independence, elucidates why public happiness is so important, and illuminates their implications for our society.
