The subjects of this study were 20 elderly women, 60-65 years old, attending in the Senior Academy located in S-dong, D-gu, G metropolitan City who were healthy without special diseases and had not participated in professional exercise programs. They were divided into the exercise group(n=10) and the control group(n=10). The effects of the yoga program on the activation of antioxidant enzymes and daily life fatigue were analyzed. For study methodology, SPSS-PC version 14.0 was used to calculate the standard deviation of measurement results of all variables. Paired t-test was applied to analyze the difference before and after the yoga program. The difference between groups was analyzed by repeated measure ANOVA. The significance of all variables was set at p<.05. Finally, the following conclusions were drawn. First, the activation of antioxidant enzymes was significantly increased in SOD at the level of p<.05 and significantly decreased in MDA at the level of p<.05 after the exercise in the Yoga group. The control group was slightly decreased but had no significant difference. The difference between groups was significant at the level of p<.05. Second, for daily life fatigue, daily dysfunctional, situational, and sensitivity fatigue scores were statistically and significantly decreased after the exercise in the Yoga group(p<.05). The control group was slightly decreased but had no significant difference. The difference between groups was not significant in daily dysfunctional fatigue but was significant in situational and sensitivity fatigue(p<.05). Based on the results, the 12-week yoga program is effective for the activation of antioxidant enzymes and daily life fatigue. The yoga program may inhibit the function of active oxygen, improve ability to defend the body through the activation of antioxidant enzymes, and prevent adult diseases. It will, therefore, be very helpful to improve health and enjoy healthy life in the elderly.
