This research aimed to analyze the career adaptability of general adult learners who participated in vocational competency education. The focus was to examine the effects of personal characteristics and participation experience on the career adaptability for the adult learners, and to identify the variables that are significantly affecting their career adaptabilities. The survey showed that the average adult learners in career competency education had high satisfaction in their career adaptabilities. Among the sub-areas, ‘concern’ and ‘control’ scored relatively higher, while ‘curiosity’ and ‘confidence’ were lower. Multiple regression analysis with dummy variables highlighted the positive effects of vocational competency education on career adaptability, to those who have higher education level, those who are middle-aged men or women, those who are currently employed, and those who have already decided on their career paths. Contrastingly, those who have participated in vocational competency education for a long time, those who simply enjoy learning regardless of the goal of vocational competency education, and those who have low satisfaction with participation showed negative effects on career adaptability. This study can provide insights to future vocational competency education and contribute to improve its quality.
